Curfew - The Fantastic World of the ConfinedDirected by Sebastian Lopez BordaDirector's Statement:
When we look at the world through the animals eyes, we can see reality in a different way that can even shows us a reflection of our own human lives. As it happens in CURFEW OR THE FANTASTIC WORLD OF THE CONFINED, a short film made during the Covid 19 lockdown about confinement. It is told through the eyes -and from the height- of Sombra, a cat whose feeling of isolation and the obstacles to go out and know what is going on, resembles the human situation during the pandemics. |
OpposableDirected by Aoife Flynn FallonDirector's Statement:
This piece is titled “ *Opposable ”. The Asterix is a sly way of shoving in the only difference we have with every other animal on the planet. This Asterix represents the reason behind our millions of years of evolution. Humans are monkeys in suits fantasising about being something they’re not - invincible and better than everything else. Nature doesn’t care for our egos. It will be here, long after we’ve whipped ourselves out. |

What if I Stay?Directed by Roberto Chavez & Costanza AndradeDirector's Statement:
We shot this short story as a way to express what we were feeling at that time. As artists and as human beings, worried about what the future holds for us. This is some sort of poem dedicated to those who have lost faith at some point in their lives. A message to all saying, you are not alone. We are all in this together. |
IMMUNE: The PrologueDirected by Joseph Velentino PalauDirector's Statement:
During this time of uncertainty, my wife and I decided to make a short film that incorporated some real footage mixed with fictional sci-fi elements. This was our quarantine film we made with our son as well. This project was made at home while respecting social distancing. Stay safe, stay creative. |
Disconnection PointDirected by Damiano PetrucciDirector's Statement:
During the quarantine period in Italy I was not allowed to go out so I made this work completely at home. I thought about the tragedy of the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center. I was only 9 years old when I have been interrupted from watching cartoons in television. I was shocked when I saw those terrible pictures and I remember that I have not watched television for months. In Italy it was 14:27 o' clock. The aim of the work was to represent the suffering through the eyes of a child playing with his toys. This is a very personal vision of the tragedy but I'm sure it was the same for a lot of children in the world. |
Quarantine ChorusDirected by Edoardo SartoriDirector's Statement:
"Quarantine Chorus" is a short-film about the persistence of the human spirit against these very difficult times caused by the COVID-19. We follow the events of a sentimental guitarist playing melancholic music on his balcony in an Italian village during the COVID-19 lockdown. When, all of a sudden, a cheerful tambourinist neighbour annoyingly interrupts him by performing a frenetic piece with the purpose to light up the mood. A conflict begins between the two disputants. |
The QuarantineDirected by Chris Eyre-WalkerDirector's Statement:
...The whole situation was/is a nightmare... so, when Chris eventually wakes up from a bad dream all seems good. He grabs his gear and heads off on the planned adventure. Only to reveal that his nightmare has possibly stretched into reality. Like the current real-life situation of the world, things have become such a blend of what we all thought of as science fiction and fantasies it's become difficult to know what to believe. |
Another Piece of Sh*tDirected by Duane AdamoliDirector's Statement:
The story of the “tormented and obsessed artist” is a well-known state of mind, however I felt like the experience of lockdown amplified that sentiment. The fear of mediocrity, of failure, the need to pursue your aspirations despite the sacrifice, because something stronger keeps you; something that actually wants and takes all of you. |
A COVID-19 LOVE STORY: Marcus & MaryDirected by Grasie Mercedes & Matthew LawFilm Synopsis:

Whatever You DoDirected by Nuno-Miguel WongDirector's Statement:
So here we were. Me and Hilary stuck at home with hardly any space left and plenty of time. It was frustrating to face the camera cases catching more and more dust every day...So we decided to enter that discussion by unpacking the gear and film all the useless and sometimes creative activities you could do at home to pass time or have a laugh. Because staying home at its own was already the most productive thing you could ever do. And we wanted to celebrate that. |
MedusaDirected by Oliver FolcarelliDirector's Statement:
With Medusa, it is my aim to show how confinement enhances our inner life. It is a film set during nighttime; a space of time for thought, in which a young man talks to his previous lover. Together, they reflect on moving on. On to the next. Whether the conversation is real or imaginative, I will not determine; Sometimes we only hear the words we need to hear, for people to be what we need them to be. Medusa is a film about first loves, about how they will always be our foundation for our next attempt at joy. But sometimes, it feels like we will forever be frozen in them. That some people will always find their way back to our thoughts. |
First Day of a ChickDirected by Shinkarenko Anastasia VadimovnaFilm Synopsis:

Delivery DateDirected by Cam LewisDirector's Statement:
With a one minute runtime, Delivery Date pushes the limits of narrative structure as an exercise in minimalist storytelling. In a world of short attention spans, I am eager to explore ways in which a compelling story can be told when time is at a premium. Likewise, the lack of dialogue reinforces the sense of entrapment and forced me to consider ways in which the narrative intentions could be conveyed purely through visuals, sound effects, and music. |
Nothing Can Stop us from LovingDirected by Yang GeDirector's Statement:
It's my first short film. Thanks to quarantine I learnt video editing and writing music for the film on my phone. The whole week we kept in touch with the film crew. Wicked Friday NightDirected by Mark JacksonDirector's Statement:
Before the Covid situation I had been thinking about doing a comedy sketch about someone having an amazing social life, while in-fact sitting on their laptop all night. Once lockdown came into force it seemed like the perfect project to work on. It was a solo project, I just filmed myself and had a lot of fun editing it together. |
StillnessDirected by Ben LawrenceDirector's Statement:
While the lock down forces us to stop and be still, our appliances, machines and even the wind continue at their usual pace, unnoticed against the stillness now present in our homes. This film explores how our forced time of inactivity collides with the ever increasing speed of change in our world. |
BraveoDirected by Lorin DavisDirector's Statement:
It was about two-and-a-half months into California's "safe-at-home" response to the global pandemic, and just days after the horrific death of George Floyd. My husband (an actor) and I were growing restless in "lockdown" in our tiny apartment but had no intentions of venturing out into the world yet when I saw our five-yearold daughter (getting WAY TOO MUCH screen time) sitting at the computer, wearing her unicorn headphones, chin in hands. She looked weary too. In that moment the story of Braveo came to me. |

HORROR STAYS HOME!Directed by Neil WilloughbyDirector's Statement:
HORROR STAYS HOME! is an homage to pre-code horror comics, shot entirely during quarantine in April 2020. Heavily influenced by the horror shows I grew up on (Goosebumps, Are you Afraid of the Dark?, Eerie Indiana), I've taken a very tongue-in-cheek approach to the genre. |
Home, SafeDirected by Leila MullisonDirector's Statement:
This spring, I was studying abroad in London, animating a lightbulb puppet named Edison at tourist destinations. Then COVID happened, and I was sent home four months early. The subsequent lockdown was when I shifted my focus to Filament. Fil is a lightbulb puppet who experiments with hobbies. I animated daily clips of him for 67 days, from March through June, exploring a new idea for between 13 and 50 seconds. This version of the project is edited as a narrative about the stress of keeping busy during a public health crisis. |
UNTIMED: A Lockdown TaleDirected by Fabio ReitanoDirector's Statement:
After a lifetime spent travelling the world, a man finds himself stuck in his old family house, during the pandemic.
